The pandemic changed everything—even the way we play games.
D&D, board games, card games—they all became a way to connect and enjoy quality time with family and friends. It was during this time that I bought and played my very first board game: Pandemic. That one game led to another… and another, and now I’ve got a small (but growing) board game collection.
But as much as I loved those games, they never quite scratched the itch of playing collectible card games. Growing up, I played knock-off Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. Back then, it wasn’t about value; it was about how cool the cards looked. When I first started working, I thought maybe this would be the right moment to restart the hobby—but my budget says no. So, I moved on.
Fast forward to today. After a few years of enjoying board games, I decided to introduce my wife to a casual collectible card game: Lorcana. She watched some videos and thought it looked fun. But hold up—one starter deck costs around 2,000 PHP? That was a hard pass for us. So, I decided to proxy some cards instead so we could try the game out.
And guess what? She loved playing. Playing with characters and songs she already knew made it even better. I shared the game with a friend and we played it with his kids—they loved it too!
And that’s why we proxy.
We want to bridge the gap between people who want to play these amazing games and the barriers that keep them out. We’re just a bunch of casual players who want to enjoy wacky, fun games with friends and family.
We’re not here to gamble, trade, or invest in high-value cards (though we encourage buying real cards if you’re ready and passionate). For us, proxying cards is like print-to-play tabletop games, an early access, or demo version. You try it out and buy the legit copy when you’re ready.
